Chicago enroute to ‘Copenhagenization’

| July 22, 2013

In mid-July, a group of 18 Chicagoans including Deputy Mayor, Steve Koch, went on a study trip to Copenhagen to seek the council of Danish experts.

The ‘Chicagohagen’ study tour which was organized by the Cycling Embassy of Denmark in cooperation with the American organization Bikes Belong is part of Chicago’s plan to develop cycling in the city so as to become the most cycle-friendly city in the US.

During their four-day visit the group got to experience Copenhagen’s bicycle culture in the only right way: from the saddle.

In addition to the bike tours, the group met with a number of the CED’s member organizations: Gehl Architects, the City of Copenhagen, COWI, Unwire, HOE360Consulting, and the Danish Cyclists’ Federation.
