Cycling Embassy of Denmark supports cycling in Northern Ireland

| June 28, 2012

The Cycling Embassy of Denmark recently joined forces with officials from Britain’s CTC and Ireland’s Cyclists.ie to support cycling advocates in Northern Ireland.

During the visit, the recurring theme was the need for cross-departmental cooperation and long-term political commitment and funds to increase the cycling modal share. Among other things, the delegation met with Minister for the Environment, Alex Atwood, for a talk of ways of improving cycle training which is up for review in Northern Ireland.

Afterwards, the delegation tried out Belfast’s bicycle infrastructure for themselves enroute to Lisnasharragh Primary School in east Belfast where they met Minister for Trasnport Danny Kennedy to celebrate their Bike to School day.
